Law Of Attraction
Fear or gain. Quit or keep going. Glass half full or half empty. We all know which option we should pick, so why is it so hard to choose correctly? Why are we so afraid to believe in what we truly want? Why do we think that happily ever after only happens in a movie? Do we have to live with these limiting thoughts forever?
I am currently reading a book called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. This book is the very definition of inspirational. It is about "the secret to life." I have had mixed reviews from people on the concept of this book, aka the law of attraction. I wonder if the people who believe in the concept are "glass half full" thinkers while the people who think life is a series of coincidences are more the "glass half empty" type? According to Urban Dictionary the law of attraction is the belief that positive thoughts are magnets for positive life experiences and negative thoughts are magnets for negative life experiences. Meaning, like attracts like. So if you are a positive magnet you will attract positive experiences. Here is a quote from the book I feel portrays this exact thought:
"Why do you think that 1 percent of the population earns around 96 percent of all that's being earned? Do you think that's an accident? It's designed that way. They understand something. They understand The Secret, and now you are being introduced to The secret-..." (Bob Proctor).
Something changed in me during lockdown. I have always considered myself a positive person but I was also cautious and held my breath a lot when it came to making decisions. Then I decided to take a chance on myself and signed up for a six month health coaching course that opened my eyes to endless possibilities. Each day I would get on my computer and watch another doctor or speaker talk about their personal passion and I thought, why can't I live that way? Why can't I research all the things that light me up and then share them with others?
Starting a website was scary and left me wide open for judgment and vulnerability. I did it anyway. I decided not to listen to those limiting thoughts and take a leap of faith. Each mountain I climbed filled me with so much desire that I leapt again and again. I was proving to myself that The Secret was real. I have met some AMAZING people, learned how to overcome my fear of technology (for the most part), helped people, and hopefully inspired a few along the way.
I don't have a clear cut plan for the future but what I realized was I don't actually need one. Each time I do something that brings me joy (which I aim for everyday), has led me to a higher level of joy! My thoughts are producing my experiences! However, when I start to doubt myself, those days go down hill fast. John Assaraf said " Here's the problem. Most people are thinking about what they don't want, and they're wondering why it shows up over and over again." What a powerful statement. So if you are walking around hating your body and calling yourself ugly body shaming names...you guessed it...the body you don't want is what you get. The law of attraction is working for you. It doesn't know that you actually don't want that body, your thoughts are vibrations that go out into the ether and like a boomerang brings back to you what you sent out. If you are always focused on people making fun of you or being a victim in life those thoughts that are on loop are serving you up with those same vibrations right back.
I can only imagine what the majority of you are thinking while reading this...if you've made it this far in the blog. You might be thinking this is a load of bull or she hasn't gone through the things I've gone through. Maybe you're right, maybe this is too good to be true...but what if it isn't?! There is only one way to know for sure and that is to take the leap yourself. Take this theory for a test drive. Look it up and visually read it for yourself. Then get real quiet and figure out the things you actually WANT in this life. Not the things you are SUPPOSED to want. Not the things you are SUPPOSED to do. Put those thoughts on loop and override the old fears and thoughts. Have "the good guys" win in your head and in every cell in your body. Start small with one full day of these types of thoughts. When a fear based thought comes in...SHUT IT DOWN! Pick back up where you were and go for day two. By day 7 you will start to notice a slight spring in your step, so ENJOY that spring or maybe even dance!
The thing is, the law of attraction is going to be working whether you believe in it or not. Which side of the aisle do you want to be on? Just dip your toe in. Prove to yourself whether or not there is something to this. Experimenting could actually be fun. As Albert Einstein said, "Everything is energy and that's all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics!" Take this challenge and make it your experiment. Your future self is already thanking you!
