What Does Your Future Hold?

I have learned many things over the last couple of years but the most powerful lesson has been that I am the creator of my life and the author of my story. Obviously, we all know this but I didn't really feel it until recently. We all do the 'adult things' like pay the bills, raise children, and go to work, but has it ever actually occurred to you that you could pick up and move tomorrow if you wanted to? That you could walk into work and say today I am choosing not to work here anymore. There's something terrifying about this power but also so exhilarating. We have this character that most people identify us as but we get to add and subtract whatever we want. Most of us don't because it goes against what we were raised to believe according to societal norms. Well, today I am going to give you an exercise to try and when you are doing it you aren't going to think about what Grandma will think or your neighbors. You have full creative freedom to fill this out with zero restrictions!

This exercise is meant to help you figure out what you want to get done in this lifetime. No one will see it (unless you want someone to) so you don't have to worry about judgments. The important part is that you understand how powerful you actually are and start to believe it. All you need is some paper and a pen. On the paper, you will write all the things you want to get done by:

The end of tomorrow?

The end of the week?

The end of the month?

The end of this year?
Now write down two years from now:

What year is it?

How old will you be?

What are the things you want to have done by that time?

Now write down five years from now:

What year will it be?

How old will you be?

What are all the things you want to have done by that time?

In 10 years?

In 20 years?

I truly hope you take some time out of your day to do this fun exercise. I used to be one of those people who would say meh I don't need to write things out, I'll just think about them. The problem with that was I wasn't diving into my subconscious. I wasn't getting to my true thoughts and feelings. It took many writing activities to prove to myself how much information was revealed. Take it from my past mistake, just get the pen and paper out. Have fun and get a little deeper than you normally would. After all, you are the one in the driver's seat!
